🔍 Explained simply
Achromatopsia is rare genetic disease, which affects the way the eyes work.
People with achromatopsia, like Zara, strongly irritated by the light, have reduced vision because of which do not see clearly and often have nystagmus - their eyes move on their own. They do not see colors, although there are also people with the disease who do not see only certain colors.

💫 Achromatopsia in the life of Zvezdinka (Star Girl)
Achromatopsia affects Zara in different and tangible ways. The bright light blinds her, so she's almost always with dark glasses and hat. She has difficulty seeing some details and does not recognise colours, making some tasks Slower or confusing.
What helps her the most is the clear contrast, the bigger letters, the right light and, of course, the patience and support of those around her. These things she manages boldly and by own way - as only Zvezdinka (Star Girl) can.
Over time, we've discovered lots of little things that make a big difference. From special eyeglasses to understanding and peace of mind, it all helps Zara live more confidently and peacefully in her world.
Protection from light
The bright light outside is Zara's biggest challenge. Special glasses with a red filter reduce glare and help her see more clearly.
Wide-brimmed hats create shade and make the world a little softer and quieter for her eyes.
For distant things
When she needs to see something far away - like a sign on the blackboard at school or a sign on the street - Zara uses special telescopic glasses. They allow her to zoom in on what would otherwise be blurry or nearly invisible.
The silent superpower
It helps her most when the people around her know what she needs - not to feel sorry for her, but to support her with patience and a smile.
The calm atmosphere, good lighting at home and appropriate tasks give her confidence and allow her to feel good about herself.
✨ Beyond all else
Achromatopsia does not affect intelligence, imagination or the ability to learn and create. Children with this condition need understanding, adaptation and support - but no less dreams and are perfectly capable of achieving them.
