OrCam MyEye 3 Pro - when technology gives independence back to people with low vision

We live in a time where technology is evolving at an incredible speed. We often talk about artificial intelligence, smart devices and innovations that are changing our everyday lives. But the most meaningful examples of progress are not those that make our lives more convenient, but those that give disabled people the chance to live more fully and independently. One such example is the OrCam MyEye 3 Pro, a small device that could completely change the way people with low vision perceive the world.

We are still waiting for Orcam MyEye to be delivered. When we get it - we will make a video.

What is OrCam MyEye 3 Pro?

At first glance, the OrCam MyEye looks like a small black attachment that attaches to the frame of the glasses. But it's actually a smart camera combining artificial intelligence, voice navigation and fast data processing. The device "sees" for the user and converts visual information into audio.

The device weighs only a few grams, operates discreetly and requires no additional equipment.

Main functions:

Reading text

With one touch, the device starts reading aloud everything in front of it: textbooks, documents, screens, signs, menus. This happens instantly, without the need for an internet connection.

Face recognition

OrCam can remember nearby people and identify them when they appear on camera. This gives peace of mind and facilitates communication.

Recognition of objects

The device distinguishes between banknotes, credit cards, labels and even colours. This is an invaluable aid when shopping or in everyday situations.

Gesture control

No complex smartphone or computer operation required. A simple finger movement is enough to activate the reading.

What does this mean for Zara?

Zara lives with visual impairment - achromatopsiawhich severely limits her visual acuity and ability to recognise colours. For a child, this means that school, reading and even play are often associated with obstacles. Where other children simply open a textbook or read text on a screen, Zara may need extra support.

With OrCam MyEye 3 Pro, Zara will be able to read books independently, recognize people and objects around her, and receive real-time information. This gives her the chance to learn and participate fully in school and life - a big step towards independence and confidence.

Zara's avatar wears red glasses, behind her it's grey and dark, but the glasses add colour

Why is OrCam MyEye 3 Pro so significant?

For many people with visual impairments, life is a constant balance between opportunities and limitations. Even the simplest tasks - reading a document, checking a bill, choosing a product in a store - sometimes require assistance. This often leads to feelings of dependency and insecurity.

OrCam MyEye 3 Pro gives you the chance to make a difference.
It's not just a device, but equality tool - a tool that removes barriers and allows people to rely more on themselves.

How does it work in Bulgaria?

One of the most important news is that OrCam MyEye 3 Pro is now available in Bulgaria. The device is included in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy for high-tech aids for people with disabilities.

The process includes:

  1. Submission of medical documentation documenting the visual impairment.

  2. Preparation of a social assessment that determines the need for the device.

  3. State approval and funding that fully covers the cost of OrCam.

This is a huge opportunity for many families. The device is expensive ($4250) and in most cases would be unaffordable without state support. Thanks to this program, children and adults with visual impairments can actually have a chance for a better future.

Technology as a bridge to the future

When we talk about technology, we often think about phones, computers and apps. But OrCam MyEye shows another face of innovation - one that serves the people who need support the most.

For Zara and others like her, this device means not just access to text, but access to education, knowledge and social life. It gives freedom to learn, develop and feel less different from other children.

OrCam MyEye 3 Pro is an example of how artificial intelligence and innovation can be used to benefit people with disabilities. A device that gives back confidence, freedom and independence. For Zara, it's more than an aid - it's a chance to see the world in a new way.
